London Mayor Sadiq Khan is proposing to cut a number of essential bus routes across the capital including the 24 and 16 which have served Pimlico for decades.
The move to cut these lifeline bus routes has been described as ‘hypocritical’ following the Mayor’s increased spending on his own PR and ‘self-promoting’ foreign trips.
These bus routes are essential to local residents and your local Conservatives are fighting to save them. That’s why we’ve launched this petition and are urging as many people to sign as possible.
Time and time again residents across Pimlico have been let down by the Mayor and his woeful management of Transport for London (TfL). This affront to our community is the latest in a long line of inaction which includes his failure to tackle Tube noise, the delay in delivering Crossrail, the Park Lane cycle lane which causes traffic to back up to Victoria, and the crippling expansion of ULEZ.
Now is the time to stand up to the Mayor and say no to taking away the 24 and 16!
Commenting on the Mayor's plans Pimlico Councillor Jim Glen said:
“The number 24 bus route has served the residents of Pimlico for over 100 years and is a lifeline to our residents, connecting them with a regular service to the West End and beyond. Mayor Khan is showing a blatant disregard for the people of Pimlico and the historic traditions that make London what it is.”
Cllr Ed Pitt Ford added:
“We all want to see better air quality and fewer polluting cars on the road, but you can’t hammer residents with the increased congestion charge and the ULEZ, whilst at the same time removing their access to public transport!”
Cllr Jacqui Wilkinson continued:
"We are working closely with local MP Nickie Aiken and our GLA Member Tony Devenish to save these important routes. A large number of local people rely on them."
