We have been contacted by EU nationals living in Pimlico who are concerned about their status in the run-up to Brexit. Last November, Cllr Nickie Aiken launched an advice service and helpline with the Citizens Advice Westminster and the Migrants Resource Centre to ensure the 30,000 EU nationals living in Westminster get the best advice. You can contact the helpline on 020 7706 6019. It is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11am to 2pm. Help with translation and face-to-face appointments can also be arranged
This is a FREE service. We have been concerned to learn that some solicitors are charging up to £15,000 for a consultation and processing the paperwork.
The launch of the new advice service was followed up in March by an information session for EU nationals with experts from the Home Office and the Department for Exiting the European Union (DExEU). We produced a summary of the key information coming out of the event, and a list of questions and answers. You can see these by clicking here.
Cllr Nickie Aiken said: “I believe EU nationals who are living in Westminster deserve to know they have a long-term home here. I am committed to ensuring that they continue to feel welcome now and after Brexit.”
