Each year your Bayswater councillors have £46,000 to spend on local projects that residents feel will best help Bayswater residents and the area we live in. Each year, we receive many, many proposals and have to make difficult decisions on whom to fund.
One we have been particularly pleased to fund are the youth projects at the Westbourne Park Family Centre. These projects are a way of making sure that young people’s energies are focused on worthwhile activities such volunteering and building life skills. In Paddington Library we used the Ward budget for new equipment, as well as IT classes and events for Bayswater residents.
We funded Bayswater children to go on educational field trips on a canal boat on Paddington Canal with the Floating Classroom. The feedback from the kids and teachers has been very positive.
Basements have caused huge problems thoughout Westminster and in particular Bayswater. Together with another ward, we have funded a dedicated Basement Planning Enforcement Officer whose job is to work with residents to ensure the disruption caused by basement works is minimised. As in previous years, we funded extra-curricular lessons for the children at St Stephens School – this year we funded music lessons. In the past we have funded renovations to St Stephens summer garden.
This year, as in previous years, we have funded Christmas lights and hanging baskets in Bayswater. These are just some of the projects we have funded this year. As ever, we would welcome any ideas and projects that you think we should look at. If you have any thoughts, please do not hesitate to contact [email protected].
