Local crime has become an issue with a spate of burglaries throughout the area. This falls under the remit of the police but we have been advocating hard on your behalf. Cllr Richard Elcho convened a meeting between residents of Orsett Terrace, Westminster Housing and the local police.
Some progress was made with the individual responsible for the burglaries arrested, tried and found guilty, new security measures are in place in the street and we continue to work with residents to identify security improvements for the buildings with Westminster Housing trialling new, more secure doors in Orsett Terrace and Porchester Square, as well as putting pressure on the London Fire Brigade to approve an alternative, safer key fob.
In addition, we have ensured that an apartment being used for prostitution in the area has been closed down with those responsible relocated out of the area. However, it is important that the community is also vigilant, which is why we encourage attendance at the Safer Neighbourhood Panels and participation in the Neighbourhood Watch schemes. If you report a crime to the police, please also inform us (with your crime reference number) as it will allow us to track local issues in real time and have pertinent conversations with the police regarding local crime. Please get in touch if you would like further information.
