Although our area is comparatively safe, we are pleased to see the police taking action against criminals involved in theft, trafficking and other illegality. Councillor Ian Adams, WCC Cabinet member for Public Protection said: “To enforce effectively against crime and anti-social behaviour, we need support from the Metropolitan Police”.
In a successful weekend police operation in April, there was an arrest for Class A drug possession with intent to supply that led to seizure of drugs and cash, and charges of driving whilst disqualified, no insurance and soliciting.
A further arrest was made for theft and failure to appear in court, and a further eight prostitution cautions issued. One of these individuals has already been given a second warning and so will be arrested if she is seen again in the next three months loitering for prostitution. Residents should call the 101 police line to report crime or anti-social behaviour after the event – if it’s an emergency, call 999.
