We attended the meeting arranged by those living in the Artesian grid, listening to their concerns about security and policing. This is an issue we continue to take seriously and liaise with the police regularly on. Our next meeting with the police is on the 16th September so if there are any issues you would like us to raise please let us know.
Notting Hill Carnival was a fantastic event and validation of the hard work of the organisers, the police, the British Transport Police, London Fire Brigade, St Johns Ambulance and the two councils. With over 1 million visitors to our streets it is a mammoth, logistical operation.
Councillor Emily Payne attended the joint operations centre this year, impressively organised with military fervour and efficiency. This year we introduced more loos, covering a wider area and encouraged participants to go plastic free - although this wasn’t adhered to which we will be feeding back in our discussions as we seek to tackle plastic waste in Bayswater. We would be interested in your thoughts and experiences, so if you have any feedback on the carnival please get in touch.
