Tim Barnes is the Conservative candidate for Westminster Council's West End by-election on Thursday, 19 September. In his latest Diary of a By-Election candidate, Tim shares his thoughts on the campaign so far, and the final 72 hours until polling stations close.
Tim explains
"Evening! Diary of a Candidate. It’s the final week; we have about 72 hours to go.
"It's Monday evening here in the West End, and we've just sent off a team of about 20 people. I mean, 20 people on a Monday evening. It's just a fabulous turnout. We had 100 people who came across our three sessions on Saturday.
"I'm overwhelmed by the level of help and support that we've had in this by-election. I'm really looking forward to seeing what that does for the election results come Thursday.
"So if you've been out with us already, thank you again. If you're still coming out with us over the next couple of days. I thank you in advance.
"We'll be all over the West End at different places, local coffee shops in Fitzrovia or indeed, Pret, which is often favoured by the Labour Party.
"So have fun. And enjoy yourselves.
"It really has been a wonderful opportunity to talk with many of our local residents, who are expressing genuine disappointment with both the Labour Council and Labour national government over the last few days on issues such as e-bikes and pedicabs, rough sleepers, and the removal of local bus routes by TfL, to a wide range of issues that have come up.
"And they really are looking for an alternative and for a candidate and a future councillor who will be able to challenge the Labour domination of politics in this part of London and give them a chance to have a different point of view put forward.
"And I hope that will be me.
"So thank you again, if you've been out. And, I look forward to seeing where we're at come close of ballots on Thursday. Cheers!"
