We’ve been working to ensure the Newton Road Medical Centre application addresses the concerns of residents.
After extensive consultation we were pleased to be able to support the application at the planning committee last week. The plans include turning the existing medical centre into nine residential properties, with the medical centre moving into a specially built, larger sized single storey and basement building where the current car park is located. The construction plans allow for the medical centre to remain open throughout the building work.
We welcome the attitude and flexibility the developer has shown with this development. We pushed for fewer parking spaces so that additional trees and greening could be included, as well as better detailing on the facade of the medical centre. We also worked with residents and the developer to ensure that overlooking and light levels were not issues with the final design. We are please to be able to say that all of these concerns have been met and that an expanded medical centre with new flats for the area have been given the go-ahead.
