Firstly, thank you to everyone who voted for us and also volunteered with us for the election. I had the most fantastic time meeting people across St James’s ward and knocking on thousands of doors with Tim and Louise. I feel incredibly grateful and honoured to now represent the fantastic people and communities of St James’s. Irrespective of whether your voted to me and my colleagues, we are here to help.
My first three months at City Hall have been a whirlwind! I am extremely lucky to have Louise Hyams and Tim Mitchell as my fellow Councillors - they have been showing me the ropes and more supportive than I could have imagined. The Council is an amazing place, with huge responsibilities and literally floors and floors of teams who have the same vision as us - to make Westminster the best place it can be for its residents.
Most of my time has been taken up with ward work rather than sitting on Council committees. This has seen me involved with resident associations across the ward, working with the Business Improvement Districts to improve the areas around Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus and also getting to know the hostels in our area; I volunteered for an evening at Edward Alsop Court, Great Peter Street. At a Council level, I am working with our Armed Forces Champion (it's the 100-year anniversary of the Armistice this year) and I also sit on the committee scrutinising housing and finance.
I’m enjoying working for the local community immensely and I couldn't recommend it more to those of you thinking of getting involved. If you are keen to help with our work in St James’s Ward, then please contact us by email.
